From strength to strength, with Tyson Properties

From strength to strength, with Tyson Properties | Let's Talk Cape Town | Tyson Properties

Jodi Dammert takes us through her journey from receptionist to top-performing rental agent on the Atlantic Seaboard, and how she continues to grow and learn within the Tyson Properties team.

How did you get your start as a real estate agent?

My Real Estate career started as a receptionist for Tyson Properties, coming from an administration background this job seemed perfect for my skills. 6 Months later I had a wonderful offer from one of our Top Sales Agents to be his personal assistant, which I jumped at because it was a great opportunity to learn about the other side of this Job, I enjoyed it and learnt so much.

What made you move into the rental department of Tyson Properties?

Nick (Director of Tyson Properties Western Cape) approached me and offered me something I didn’t expect, an amazing opportunity to work in City Centres rental market, the fastest moving rental market with so many different properties, from apartments to penthouses to Villas. This soon branched out to Sea Point, De Waterkant and many surrounding areas on the Atlantic Seaboard.

There was hesitation and the fear of failing

There was hesitation and the fear of failing, but faith made me do it and I haven’t looked back, being a rental agent is so much more than just getting properties rented, you dealing with people’s emotions, fears and desires, you make things happen for them!

What are the things that you love about being a rental agent?

I get to work with different people every day, from professors to designers to building developers, amazing people with so many different views on life. I get to see amazing properties and being capable of making someone’s short term vision of living in a property they have always wanted to become possible is an achievement. I achieve my own goals at getting properties rented, and delivering an amazing service to both my Landlords and Tenants, I make people happy.

Why is team culture so important in the rental division?

Team Culture is so important, loyalty and being a team player! When someone lacks or needs help, you get up and do it. Treating my team like brothers and sisters gets the job done with an amazing service delivery as well. We play together not against one another and that’s what sets Tyson Rental Department at the Top.
